This is a despicable app. Anyone involved in it at the magazine or app developer should be embarrassed. Total POS.
Cant access issues though I am an active subscriber. ********* After multiple attempts I was finally able to access my issues again. I cant recall exactly what I did but Im pretty sure it involved deleting the app and downloading it again. My beef is the how the app forces you to download current website updates. This wouldnt be a big deal if you could just bypass if - often the updating gets stuck and I cant access the already downloaded issues. The whole point is to read the magazine.
There are MANY of us who got rid of our iPads and bought iPhone 6 Pluses… and would actually prefer to read on it… but of course, New York magazine couldn’t be bothered to come out with a version that works on the 6Plus… Good work… NOT
By far the worst app ever. Conde Nast should buy these bozos and clean up their operation.
This app is a joke. Takes forever to open. Cannot quite understand why they are not able to fix this problem. I dont care about latest news, just let me read the mag!!!
They keep making it worse. After trying for 2 weeks to get access to this version (as a print subscriber), I was finally recognized on the basis of my address and was able to log in. My new-found ability to log into the app was good for nothing but an endless stream of "Unable to load content - unknown error" messages. The publisher should be ashamed of themselves. Publishing for the iPad is no longer a novelty - and plenty of other publishers seem to be able to get it right.
I read all of the negative reviews but still, for some reason, found a need to try it for myself. Heres another review for you. Its a horrible app not worth your time.
Yes, once again they have screwed up the log-in process. For no apparent reason other than "Hey, lets screw things up for our long-time subscribers." Frankly, I dont need the iPad version anymore. I am perfectly content with the print edition. At least I dont have constantly log-in to read it. TOTAL FAIL.
For all the high-powered technology that went into creating this app, its amazingly user unfriendly. Jammed up, confusing, hard to find stuff, impossible to figure out how to toggle back-and-forth between the magazine and the app only features.
Your email address is in all CAPS. Who does this ? Now I can log in. Works great
Come on. Get this right. Its not difficult. Call up Conde Nast or Hearst or Vice, even. Just let me login. I dont want to waste hours on this.
The New York magazine app for iPad is incredibly frustrating because Ive been locked out of my account twice because of "system updates." Yet again, its the weekend, and Id like to be able to read the magazine, yet when I try to log in it tells me that my password is no longer valid because the system has been updated… Again. Ive tried simply entering the email account associated with this app, but it doesnt recognize it, nor does it recognize ANY email address that I use. And of course customer service is closed for the weekend. This is the second time this has happened. Ive given this app 2 stars because its actually pretty good...when it works. Nonetheless, I cant give it a high rating because it almost never does work for me it seems. I expect a publication from an enormous publishing house like this to actually work and have decent customer service.

I miss the basic app NY mag used to have. I just want to read the magazine, and the app is so buggy and packed with all of their other digital content, it never works.
I love NY Magazine.
The app has improved greatly. My previous review I only gave it one star. I am now bumping my rating up to five stars. NY Mag is my favorite magazine, I look forward to every issue. Articles are always well written. I recommend this app.
Current app crashes at launch and am therefore completely locked out of my subscription. Have missed at least two issues and counting as a result.
I am currently on my second year subscription to NY Mag through the app store and I love it. But for several weeks now I have not been able to open the app. It crashes within 2-3 seconds and I have tried everything imaginable. I have written two emails at the support address given on the website and received no answer. In the mean time, new issues are available and I am not able to enjoy my subscription... Given the fact that we are now quite a few subscribers sharing the fact that we are encountering this problem, an answer and a solution would be most welcome!
