New York Magazine App Reviews

A magazine to give readers the REAL story

This magazine give readers the real story, with whats going, one can understand the real reason why such crazy things are happening

good app

better than most apps that are linked with magazines....good for my frank rich fix

Great magazine, one huge problem

I love this magazine and have been a loyal subscriber for years. This app drives me nuts though and has finally driven me to write my first app review ever. The app looks great, but it has one huge problem: it doesnt save where you are in an article if you close the app. I read this on my subway commute, so I go back and forth to read articles a little at a time. The app never saves where I am, even if I only close the app for a few minutes. Its so annoying to go through the whole process of finding where I left off and scrolling through paragraphs until I find where I last was. The New Yorker app saves exactly where you are no matter how long you have the app closed, so I know this is possible! If this app could save places it would be perfect. Please stop adding a frustrating inconvenience to New Yorkers already hellish commutes. Thank you!

Great Magazine & App

I wouldnt think of NY Mag as having a big newsroom but theyve actually broken some big news stories, and covered a wide gamut of the country so Im impressed. The app is also really easy and simple and I appreciate it allows me to archive and find issues easily to help save storage space.

Crashes all the time

A good app if it only it worked. Crashes all the time. Therefore not worth the investment in a costly subscription. Too bad it is a good magazine

Awesome experience

Loved the experience! Gives me an access to my favourite magazine and daily updates from any part of the world. Digital subscription with its lower cost is definitely a way to go.

Buyer Beware

It would be nice if they would actually fix this app so you could read the magazine that you bought a subscription to. For the last two months, I have been unable to access issues. New issues hang up during download. I have tried all the typical fixes, deleting and reinstalling the app. Restarting my iPad. Nothing works. Not only that, every time I open the app, it has forgotten that I am a subscriber. Well, very soon, I WONT be a subscriber. And neither should you.

Soooo frustrated!

Why wont my NY Mag open?!?!?! Ive done all the fixes and since the last one in December (which was supposed to make downloading easier for iPad users), I get nothing. Cant open, cant delete......cant stand it!

Great concept

Good design, layout and interactive. But please make the file size smaller. Bloomberg businessweek takes 1/3 of the storage space.

Crash

The app just keeps on crashing every time you open it

Paid for nothing!

Impossible downloading new issues from more than a month... and I paid for an annual subscription! They answered my e-mails but arent able to solve the problem... Dont subscribe guys!

Fix this app!

This app simply doesnt work. I trying to download the last issue since last monday, but its impossibile.

The best

This is, by far, the best way to learn the New York way of life. That is : open your eyes and your mind to the sounds of the world.

Space Hog App Run By Completely Inept People

The poor experiences with this app just continue. Now they have instituted a new registration process that begins with the 12/1/14 issue and requires your new account number on there. Only problem is that the current print issue is the 11/17 issue (2 issues before 12/11). So now I have a useless app for 2 weeks! Over the years, I have wondered why a typical issue of NY Mag takes up 10x the space of another mag I read on my iPad (Entertainment Weekly). Then I wondered why there were GBs of wasted space being used by this app. Then I read another reviewer who figured out the culprit was the partial downloads of issues that this app screwed up in downloading just sitting there taking up space. The only fix was deleting the app, reinstalling, and going through a registration process that took far too many steps. (A reoccurring issue apparently)

Mr.

The update was seamless and quick for me; surprised others had trouble. Just had to enter my address and all my previous downloads were saved and opened with no fuss. I read several magazines on my iPad and NY Mag is my fave. Easy to navigate, well-designed, fun/informative interactivity without going overboard on the bells and whistles. I say keep up the good work!

Might as well be a pothole.

Who is responsible for taking a perfectly excellent app and destroying it? This app is a mess and pretty much inoperable. Going back to the old app to retrieve "archived" issues does not work. Get someone who knows what he/she knows what to do to fix it. Until then this app deserves no stars. Thank you

Doesnt work as promised

Cant access my back issues!! Trying with an IPAD Air that is fully updated.

Sacomd

Same problem. New or old account #. Still no access to old or new issues. Old slow app gives way to new no app

Useless

Cant log in - keeps telling me "our records show you already have access to digital version" but wont let me log in. Takes forever for the "latest news" to load, regardless of the connection. If this is how NYMag is going to survive, I dont give it high odds. This app is an object lesson in how to alienate digital subscribers.

Terrible app

Ive given up on the app and only read the hard copy. I have never been pleased and am having the same problems as others. Speaking of the hard copy, not sure I like the new format anyway, terrible app may be another reason to give up entirely.
